| The role of the Council of Advisers is to facilitate, among world nuclear industry leaders, a valuable exchange of views on industry-related developments and on how best to accomplish the WNA's strategic objectives.
The Council's Co-Chairmen are Dr. Hans Blix, Director General-Emeritus of the IAEA, and Dr. Zack T. Pate, a founder and now Chairman-Emeritus of WANO. The Council's membership includes, ex-officio, the Chairman of the WNA Board as well as former Chairmen.
The Council membership includes industry leaders from many countries and from all phases of the nuclear fuel cycle.
Council members are selected with the primary aim of fostering interaction among top executives from the nuclear industry's major vendors, consumers, and associations - and inviting their guidance and support regarding WNA activities.
To ensure an even broader balance of views, the Council also includes the heads of a few smaller companies and, where possible, leaders from outside the industry who possess valuable perspective relevant to the industry's future.
The Council convenes on an ad hoc basis with the goal of:
- Facilitating, among leaders of the global nuclear industry, a sharing of knowledge and perspective about industry-related developments.
- Considering how the World Nuclear Association can best support its members and the nuclear industry worldwide.
