Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) - Environmental assessment is about protecting the environment, according to the CEAA. Site includes information on the activities of the CEAA, a master list of all the environmental assessments carried out under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act that have been registered by responsible federal authorities, and links to other relevant web sites. Also includes a five-year review.

Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) - CDIAC is within the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the US and is the primary global change and analysis centre of the Department of Energy. This is a tightly organised site with lots of good data and many valuable online publications.

Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research - Oslo (CICERO) - An academic body that provides research and analysis on environmental issues, particularly climate change.

EcoEarth.Info - This is an Internet search tool that provides access to reviewed environmental sustainability news, information retrieval tools, and original analysis and action opportunities.

Environmental Data Interactive Exchange (EDIE) - This site is billed as the 'online community for water, waste & environment professionals'.

European Commission Directorate General Environment - The Environment, Nuclear Safety and Civil Protection directorate of the European Commission. Among its responsibilities are climate and air quality, environmental impact assessment and the secretariat of the G-24 Nuclear Safety Assistance Coordination (NUSAC) effort.

ExternE - Externalities of Energy - The ExternE project, a research project of the European Commission, is the first comprehensive attempt to use a consistent 'bottom-up' methodology to evaluate the external costs associated with a range of different fuel cycles, including nuclear power. Fuel cycle externalities are the costs imposed on society and the environment that are not accounted for by the producers and consumers of energy, i.e. that are not included in the market price.

IEA Greenhouse Gas Programme (IEAGHG) - The IEA Greenhouse Gas Programme is an international collaborative R&D programme to analyse options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels. Work to date has focused largely on the capture and storage of CO2. Site includes bi-monthly newsletter, as well as technical reports and paper presented.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - The panel was set up in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Contains working group data, press releases and technical reports in PDF format.

National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) - This site claims to have the world's largest active archive of weather data

OSPAR Commission - OSPAR is the Oslo and Paris Conventions for the Prevention of Marine Pollution. The site includes the texts of both conventions.

SAFEGROUNDS Learning Network - The purpose of the SAFEGROUNDS Learning Network - established in September 1999 - is to deliver a rolling programme of best practice guidance about the management of contaminated land on nuclear and defence sites. The Network is initially a collaboration between nuclear liability holders and the regulators, contractors and consultants to the nuclear industry but, as it progresses, it will increasingly involve other stakeholders representing public and wider environmental interests.

Supervising Scientists Group (Environment Australia) (SSG) - The Supervising Scientist Group, part of Environment Australia, is responsible for environmental oversight of uranium mining activities in the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory of Australia. This region includes the Kakadu National Park, recognised internationally for its outstanding natural and cultural values by inscription on the World Heritage List, as well as the Ranger uranium mine and a number of other properties.

UNEP Collaborating Centre on Energy and Environment (UCCEE) - The UNEP Collaborating Centre on Energy and Environment at Riso National Laboratory, Denmark, supports the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in pursuing its aim of incorporating environmental aspects into energy planning and policy worldwide, with special emphasis on developing countries. Contains the C2E2 newsletter (PDF), links to other newsletters and other information.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) - The organisation's mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC) - The site of the UNFCCC secretariat contains lots of information on the scheduling of the current round of meetings, the convention itself, climate change and supporting documents.

World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) - This is a coalition of some 150 international companies united by a shared commitment to sustainable development. Site includes an archive of Press Releases, as well as media coverage.
