Always Improving Performance - This page was created by Bill Lowthert, who for over 30 years has been a trainer, performance technologist, and manager in the nuclear power industry. The aim of the site is to improve nuclear power plant performance and safety. Includes a useful document library.

The Analysis Group - The group, part of the KSU, is responsible for generating information with a scientific approach on nuclear power issues that might arise in the media or in the political and public debate. The site contains information regarding reactor safety, ionizing radiation and comparison of risks/environmental influences of different energy sources. Also includes Swedish opinion polls on nuclear energy. *In Swedish only*

EUROSAFE - This is a global and European initiative aimed at promoting the convergence of technical nuclear safety practices in Europe. The initiative finds its expression in three communication media that pool the ideas of various European safety organisations.

French Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) - The IRSN brings together French expertise in nuclear safety and radioprotection in the service of the public authorities.

Gesellschaft fur Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS) - This is Germany's central scientific- technical expert organisation for all issues related to nuclear safety and nuclear waste management.

International Nuclear Safety Centre (INSC) - Includes a database of safety related information including: power and research reactors worldwide; nuclear materials and their properties; forthcoming events; maps; weekly reports from the Centre and much other information. Good information, excellently presented!

Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) - The Ministry commits to ensuring safety of nuclear energy in the field of science and technology development, especially in the operation of experimental and research reactors, and the utilization of nuclear source materials and fuel materials, as well as radioisotope generating equipment, by implementing safeguards under international agreements, responses to nuclear disasters and international cooperation related to nuclear safety regulations.

Nuclear Logistics Inc (NLI) - The company offers safety-related equipment and equipment maintenance to the nuclear industry.

Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (NUPEC) - This Japanese company focuses on nuclear safety and public relations activity. This site outlines NUPEC's responsibilities, lists the facilities it operates and gives other information about the organisation.

Nuclear Safety Institute of the Kurchatov RRC (NSI) - This is one of Russia's largest federally funded scientific labs and is the main centre for nuclear safety research.

Nuclear Safety Network (NSnet) - This is a Japanese networking organization established in order to promote the widespread adoption of improved safety measures in the nuclear industry, based on the lessons learned from the 1999 criticality accident at a uranium processing facility in Tokaimura. The site includes details of affiliated Japanese nuclear power plant and fuel cycle facilities.

Nuclear Safety Research Association (NSRA) - *In JAPANESE only*

Nuclear Safety Solutions (NSS) - As the largest privately held consultancy in the Canadian nuclear industry, the company provides specialised integrated safety analysis solutions to the nuclear industry across multiple disciplines and a full service to support nuclear stations safety cases. NSS is the former Nuclear Safety Analysis Division of Ontario Power Generation (OPG), supplemented by NNC Holdings Ltd management resources, new business processes, and additional staff recruited from throughout the Canadian industry.

PHARE and TACIS Information Centre - Nuclear safety in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe has been a priority in the European Union's PHARE and TACIS assistance programmes. This site contains information about the programmes and also includes an information service.

Professional Reactor Operator Society (NucPros) - The site contains information about the Society, International Nuclear News, Members Only Section with open forum and discussions on current issues that are important to nuclear control room operators and training organizations.

RADSAFE - This is a consortium of UK organisations that have come together to offer mutual assistance in the event of a transport accident involving radioactive materials belonging to a RADSAFE member. The RADSAFE plan evolved from a number of earlier emergency plans. RADSAFE ensures the early provision of advice and support to the emergency services.

Simulator-Centre (KSG/GfS) - The Simulator-Centre was founded in 1987 by eleven German utilities, one Swiss and one Dutch utility. Every year, approximately 1000 employees from presently 19 nuclear power plant units in Germany and the Netherlands receive training at the Simulator-Centre through about 500 courses. For this purpose it operates 13 plant specific simulators. It is the biggest centre of this type in the world.
