Mr Peter Hollins

Mr Peter Hollins joined British Energy as Chief Executive in February 1998 from the European Vinyls Corporation, Brussels. From 1992 he was Executive Director of this corporation, a joint venture between ICI and Enichem which was floated on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 1994. As such, he was responsible for the suspension PVC and vinyl chloride monomer business, R&D, health and safety, the environment, and technology licensing. Mr Hollins obtained a degree in chemistry from Oxford and began his career in 1970 as Market Development Manager with British Oxygen. He then worked for ICI's Mond Division, which became ICI Chemicals and Polymers. In 1987 he became Commercial Manager for ICI Soda Ash Products, moving in 1989 to ICI Resins in the Netherlands as General Manager. He is also currently a director of Smiths Industries.
