Dominique Vignon

Dominique Vignon is a graduate of France's renowned engineering school, the Ecole Polytechnique, and of the leading French Civil Engineering School, the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. After an assignment as a civil engineer in the central administration of the French Ministry for Equipment, he joined the nuclear industry in 1975, first with Electricité de France. He joined the Framatome Group in 1990. There, he was appointed Chief Executive of Nuclear Power International (NPI), the joint subsidiary of Framatome and Siemens for the development of the European pressurised water reactor (EPR). In 1993, he took over as Chairman the newly organised Jeumont Industries, and from 1995 he was also Managing Director of Framatome's nuclear business. In 1996 Dominique Vignon was appointed Chairman and CEO of the Framatome Group, and since the merger of the nuclear activities of Framatome and Siemens in January 2001 he has been President of the new joint venture company Framatome ANP.
