M. P. LaBar

 
Mr. La Bar's entire professional career, spanning some 40 years, has been in the nuclear power industry. He began his career working for Westinghouse at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory on the design of nuclear reactors for submarine and surface ship applications. He subsequently joined United Nuclear Corporation where he was involved with commercial power reactors working on the design, development, and manufacture of reload fuel for both pressurized water and boiling water reactors.

When General Atomics acquired United Nuclear's LWR reload fuel business, he moved to San Diego and became involved with the design of High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactors. He has been associated with the development of passively safe, modular high temperature gas cooled reactors in many different capacities including engineering design and analysis, power generation economics, process heat applications, business development, and project management.

He holds Bachelor and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer as well as a Professional Nuclear Engineer in the State of California. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Nuclear Society.
