Zia ul Hasan Siddiqui

Mr Siddiqui is the engineer with a great experience of nuclear power plants in Pakistan . He started his career as an electronic/computer engineer by commissioning of the control computer systems at the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant, a 137 MWe CANDU PHWR, the first one to be imported from Canada. In 1993, Mr Siddiqui worked in Canada as Karachi NPP Representative in offices of CANDU Owners Group (COG) in Toronto . He worked for 30 years at that plant, ultimately coordinating international projects for upgrading its I&C technology, and improving its operational safety.

Since 1999 he has been at the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1, a 300 MWe PWR built by the China National Nuclear Corporation, again the first international project of its kind. The unit started commercial operation in 2000. As Chashma NPP's General Manager since 2001, Mr Siddiqui supervised its improvement through a period of great initial difficulties to smooth operation in the past couple of years.

Mr Siddiqui is currently Member (Power) of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission HQ in Islamabad . In 2004, Mr Siddiqui received the President's Award for Pride of Performance.
