Mr Tanaka is General Manager of the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan .
In 1976, Mr Tanaka graduated from the University of Tokyo, the Engineering Faculty, and received a degree in Nuclear Engineering. He began his occupational career in 1976, where he was employed by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). In 1986 he was appointed Manager of the In-core Fuel Management Department at Toden Software Co.(TSI), a subsidiary of TEPCO. In 1991 he held the position of Licensed Chief Nuclear Reactor Engineer and Manager of Engineering Section at Fukushima-Daini NPS, TEPCO. In 1993 he joined the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC) as Deputy General Manager of the Nuclear Power Division. Then in 1995 Mr Tanaka was appointed Manager of the Nuclear Power Programmes Section of the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Dept., HQ, TEPCO. In 1997 he worked as the Licensed Chief Nuclear Reactor Engineer and General Manager of the Engineering Department of Fukushima-Daiichi NPS, TEPCO. In 2000 he was appointed Deputy General Manager of the Nuclear Engineering Department, HQ, TEPCO and then in 2001 moved to the Nuclear Programmes Department to take the position of Deputy General Manager there. In 2004 Mr Tanaka worked as the General Manager of FEPC's Nuclear Power Department. Today, Mr Tanaka is responsible for explaining nuclear issues to the CEOs of electric power companies that are operating nuclear power reactors in Japan . Especially, he contributes to the decision of common nuclear power programmes for Japanese electric power companies. |
