Bertrand Barré
Bertrand Barré is a graduate of the ENSMIM (Nancy Mining School). His post-graduate studies were in Solid State Physics. He also attended IHEDN (National Defence Institute).
He joined the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in 1967 and alternated between scientific and managerial positions in France and abroad. He was Nuclear Attaché near the French Embassy in Washington DC, Head of the Nuclear Reactor Directorate in the CEA, Director of Engineering Division in Technicatome, Vice President for R&D in COGEMA and Vice President for Scientific Communications in Areva, where he remains Senior Advisor.
He is Professor Emeritus at INSTN (National Nuclear Sciences and Technologies Institute, past president of SFEN (French Nuclear Energy Society) and the European Nuclear Society, Member of the Board of the American Nuclear Society, Vice Chairman of the Euratom Scientific and Technical Committee, and former chairman of the Standing Advisory Group for Nuclear Energy at the IAEA. He is also chairman of the International Nuclear Societies Council.
