![]() | Mr Ackland has over thirty years' experience in the mineral resources industry. He took the position of Chief Executive Officer and President of Southern Cross Resources Inc in February 1997 after having played an active role in the acquisition of various properties by the company. During 1995-96 he worked as a consultant on a variety of North American and Australian titanium dioxide projects. From 1982 to 1995, Mr Ackland held various senior board and management positions with Ticor Ltd (formerly Minproc Holdings Ltd) including Executive Director for Corporate Development, during the period when Ticor developed the Tiwest mineral sands to TiO2 pigment project and developed the Gladstone sodium cyanide production project. In 1994, Mr Ackland took over as Executive Director of Operations of Ticor where he was responsible for the foregoing projects and Ticor's interest in the German Creek coal joint venture in Central Queensland, Australia. Mr Ackland is a director of several resource companies in Australia, both publicly traded and private. Mr Ackland has a Bachelor of Applied Science in metallurgy from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the American Institute of Mining Engineers. |
