Dr Robin Jeffrey was appointed Chief Executive of Scottish Nuclear Ltd in March 1992. In October 1995 he combined this with the role of Chairman of Scottish Nuclear and joint Deputy Chairman of British Energy plc, which was privatised in July 1996. Dr Jeffrey has a BSc in chemical engineering obtained in 1960 from Glasgow University, and was awarded a PhD in fluid mechanics at Cambridge in 1964. He held various posts with Babcock International until 1979, when he joined the South of Scotland Electricity Board (SSEB), shortly thereafter being appointed Project Manager for the construction of the Torness AGR station. In 1988, Dr Jeffrey was appointed Chief Engineer, Generation Design & Construction at SSEB, and after privatisation in 1990 became Managing Director, Engineering Resources, one of the business units of the newly-formed company Scottish Power. He is a member of the London Transport Board, a Visiting Professor at Strathclyde University and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. |
