BILL COLEY

William A. (Bill) Coley, was elected Chief Executive of British Energy Group plc in March 2005, having served as a non-executive director from June 2003. British Energy Group is the largest electrical generator in the United Kingdom, supplying approximately 20% of the electricity of the UK.

Coley retired as President of Duke Power Company in Charlotte, N.C. in February 2003. During his 37-year career with Duke Power, Coley served in numerous engineering and management positions in all areas of utility and non-utility operations.

Coley began his career with Duke Power as a junior engineer at the Marshall Steam Station in 1966.  After holding a range of engineering and operating positions in Duke, he became Senior Vice President, Power Delivery in 1988.  He was elected to Duke Power's Board of Directors in 1990, and served as President of Duke Power from 1997 to February 2003. 

Coley served on the board of SouthTrust Bank until its acquisition by Wachovia Bank N. A. in 2005. He also served on the board of CT Communications, Inc. until CTC was acquired by Windstream Communications in 2007.

Coley is a director of Peabody Energy, a publicly traded company, and a director of E.R. Jahna Enterprises, a privately held company.

Coley is married to the former Jane Hall and they have two children and two grandchildren.
