ROGER HOWSLEY

Dr Roger Howsley is the former Director of Security, Safeguards and International Affairs for BNFL, where he was accountable for all aspects of security across the BNFL Group of companies. He was Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Constabulary Police Authority on a biennial basis between 1995 and 2005 prior to it becoming the Civil Nuclear Constabulary; this dedicated police force provides armed protection to relevant nuclear installations in the UK and domestic and international transport operations.

Dr Howsley currently serves on the IAEA Director General’s Standing Advisory Group on Safeguards Implementation (SAGSI) and joined the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) as a consultant in 2008. Dr Howsley holds a 1st Class BSc (Honours) and PhD in Life Sciences from Liverpool University, England.
