TAKAHIKO ITO

Takahito Ito is Commissioner at the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan, and former Executive Vice President and Director of Chubu Electric Power Company Inc, where he has been involved since 1965.

After graduating from the University of Tokyo in Electronic Engineering in 1965, Mr Ito joined the Chubu Electric Power Company (1964), and since then has held a variety of roles: Deputy General Manager of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station (1992-93); Senior General Manager, General Manager of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station (1993-97); Director, General Manager of Hamaoka Central Administration Office (1997-2001); Managing Director (2001-03); Managing Director, Division Manager of Power Generation Division (2003-04); Executive Vice President & Director, Division Manager of Power Generation Division (2004-05); Executive Vice President & Director (2005-06); Advisor (2007-present).

Mr Ito was also Chairman of the Nuclear Development Steering Committee of the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (2005-06), and in January 2007 was named Commissioner of the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan.
