JANARDHANAN NANDAKUMAR
Janardhanan Nandakumar is currently Senior Energy Analyst with the Global Energy Division of DMV Business and Market Research, the Indian Office of the UK-based Global Data. In this capacity, he is in charge of research activities pertaining to various aspects of the energy industry across the world. Prior to his present position, Mr Nandakumar worked with the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), the premier strategic and security studies think tank under the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi, India. Mr Nandakumar was a Fellow of the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), under the Ministry of External Affairs of Japan. During his tenure as a JIIA Fellow he undertook research on the changing dynamics of regional energy cooperation in northeast Asia. His areas of research interest include nuclear energy development; energy policy; Asia’s energy security; China’s energy strategy; the geopolitics of oil; the role of renewables and alternative energy in national security; and energy security and risk assessment. Mr Nandakumar is a Doctoral Fellow at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi, India, working on China’s energy security strategy.
He has to his credit a MPhil degree in East Asian Studies and an Advanced Diploma in Chinese Language from the same institute. He is a postgraduate in International Relations.
Mr Nandakumar has many research publications in various reputed national and international journals and magazines, as well as papers presented at various international seminars.
