GEORGE FELGATE

George Felgate was appointed Managing Director of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) in September 2009.

Prior to this he served as Vice President of Plant Operations at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) in the U.S. Mr Felgate joined INPO in 1982 and served in a variety of positions including Vice President of the Analysis and Administration Divisions, Director of Personnel, and Manager of the Operations, Training Resources, and Emergency Preparedness Departments.

He also completed assignments to the Koeberg nuclear power plant in South Africa, and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Prior to joining INPO, Mr Felgate worked for the Westinghouse Fast Flux Test Facility and the U.S. Navy.

He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s degree in computer systems management from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School.
