Monbiot: Environmental movement has done more harm to the planet's living systems than climate change deniers

George Monbiot's latest article, readable in both the Guardian and fully referenced on Monbiot's blog, deals with wastes from nuclear power plants and fossil fuels. For nuclear power plants Monbiot highlights recent proposals to build an Integral Fast Reactor to burn used fuel from conventional nuclear reactors, as recently reported in WNN. But Monbiot's blog also draws attention to the increases in carbon dioxide wastes that will arise from Germany's decision to switch from away from nuclear and the resultant increase in use of fossil fuels.
